Wanna know something about love? it encourages us to expose the truth about ourselves, it allows us to embrace who we are. love does not come with judgement or cost, love is freedom. I know someone who loves you, the real you.
We sometimes walk around thinking we have to pretend around others and cover up who we are because we think they wont accept us with our mess. There are some people out there who wont accept us with our flaws because they were not accepted with their flaws. This leads to us looking at our circumstances and our past or maybe even current mistakes and think is it possible for me to be loved. We hear from our family or church that God loves us with an everlasting love but for some people the only love they experienced was love with caution. Then they correlate that same cautious love with God's love. The truth is God's love can never compare to our limited love, God's love is overwhelming, He sees past our flaws. We sometimes think we have to hide our flaws from God and pretend to be someone who we are not because we think God only loves us when we are doing something noble. God sees past the pretending, He sees the brokenness and He waits for us to confess our brokenness to Him, thats love. I like to describe God as a gentlemen because He does not force anything upon us, He waits for us to turn to Him because His love is patient and kind.
The truth is the world has a distorted view of what love is, this world is full of brokenness. People hide behind their pain and struggles because they are used to witnessing others act like they have it all together, but in reality everyone has a bit of damage. That is why we can never judge others on their behavior because everyone has a story. Maybe that person did not grow up in love, or maybe that person is searching to find love, and they will. Sometimes, you have to find love within yourself first before you can show unconditional love to others. There is hope.
I challenge you to see past the distorted view of love you experienced from others and experience the love God has for you, with no caution, with no fear, with no guilt. Receive Gods unconditional love.
~There is no fear in love, perfect love cast out all fear." 1 John 4:18
