I have to confess.. lacking in the area of self-control can get the best of me. A lack of self control effects me in more areas than one. For instance, when I refuse to acknowledge the detriment that come with a lack of self control I let my emotions manage the way I think and feel. Sometimes I am just too easily offended and too quick to react. I think one of the most powerful things anyone can do is control the way they choose to react to a circumstance out of their control. It is a beautiful thing in using authority to empower others and build them up.
Working on listening skills to birth the results I desperately stride to see is a challenge. A challenge worth the battle. I can admit, I can be a big talker, sometimes I prefer to give advice and don't attentively listen when someone speaks words of wisdom into my life. Many times pride consumes me. I stride to lead but get discouraged with the determination that comes with it, even leaders need to follow in the direction of the wise, take advice, and attentively listen. It is so much easier to follow in the direction I assume is best rather than humble myself enough to be diligent with my listening skills. "The wise don't engage in empty chatter, what good are such words? ~Job 15:3"
Yes, I am a working progress. Many times I have major setbacks but setbacks leave opportunities for comebacks. Any obstacle you and I face gives us an advantage to strengthen our mentality and endure the unpredictable path set before us. We live in a world where the enemy (Devil) is present and uses his deceitful tactics to make us stumble. Sadly, this world entertains and encourages actions that lead to almost unbearable consequences. This is why it is so easy to perform wrong acts over the right ones. Together, lets use any opportunity we can to stride for the results we eagerly await. Remember, there is freedom in the process..it awaits us.. lets continue to stride for a prosperous future.
