Past Barriers

Updated: Feb 25, 2019

Sometimes I struggle accepting the past, the mistakes I made, the pain I induced on myself and others. What I failed to acknowledge is that I can't change what happened in the past. Dwelling on negativity from my past is an obstacle to my future. When I constantly look back, there leaves no room to move forward.

The only thing I can do is move forward because what happened is already done, there is no changing that. Move forward to making better decisions, a healthier lifestyle, a happier lifestyle. Like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said "If you cant fly then run, if you cant run then walk. If you cant walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward."

Whenever I feel oppressed with thoughts from the past, I am challenged to shift my mindset on what I can do to keep the past from repeating itself. It starts with the little things, I need to reflect more on my blessings. I need to give thanks for everything thats right instead of focusing on everything thats wrong. Together, lets make the choice to allow the good to outweigh the bad.

Lets challenge one another to live in the present. To take life moment by moment.Together, lets stop obstacles right in their tracts and enjoy the present.

Isaiah 43: 18-19 "Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert."
